Candace, in her own words.

Obituary

Maxine Candace Wallace, our beloved sister, friend, mother and wife-to-be was a force to be reckoned with. She had an impeccable taste in fashion and decor that matched her vivacious personality to a T. Her light first glowed on the 1st of February in the year 1980. She was born to proud parents Kelva Wallace and Earl Beckles in the beautiful twin island of Trinidad & Tobago. As the saying goes; “there’s a time and a place for everything” and when it came time for fun with family or friends, she didn’t hold back. Likewise when it came to standing up for what she believed in, she played no games and held no punches. But her spicy mouth was no contest for the size of her heart. When she loved, she loved with her all. This ferocious love grew as she developed a relationship with the One Who first loved her: Christ Jesus, Our Lord and Saviour and she was a changed woman when she learned to love and fully embrace herself. That radical self love led her to a man that was the embodiment & manifestation of that radical self love that glowed from within; a man designed just for her - Stefan Alexander. As soon to be husband and wife, they planned every detail of their future together from raising her boys; Taheim, Taj and Tariq, to starting a business and figuring out how best Stefan would cohabitate with the furry love of her life, Nico.In every endeavor from becoming a biographical author of both her life story and poetry to her phenomenal baking skills or raising and affirming her resilient boys, or performing as a vocalist-she did all to the glory of God.

Every opportunity she had, up to her last breath, she testified of His grace and power over every evil. The roots of this deep faith in God she credited to her beloved grandmother, Eleanor BecklesOn May 19, 2022 at the age of 42, her Father called her to rest. But every true believer knows Christians don’t die, they multiply with the impact made in the lives and hearts of those they were called to reach, able to touch, or anointed to serve.May her passing be the glue that draws us nearer together in love and let this love be the umbrella under which her beautiful boys thrive. May her love and passion for God reach its full manifestation in every single person who knew and loved her.She is survived by her mother Kelva, father Earl, Her children whom she loved immensely; Taheim, Taj and Tariq. Siblings Natasha, Wade, Keisha, Psyche and Shakeel. Her Peternal Grandmother, Ms. Eleanor Beckles. The love of her life, her husband to be Stefan, numerous cousins, her best friends Camille, Sumer and Merlina. Friend of 37 years, Michelle and friends from Trinidad to the United States and beyond. And finally, those who she led to Christ.Candace; dearest daughter, granddaughter, mother, sister, friend, writer, poet, song bird, BOSS COOK and child of God - we love you, we miss you and upon that great resurrection day, we will all be reunited again. Until then, love, Rest in Power.
